These are our best picks for phones around ₹20,000 right now: the iQOO Z11x if you want the best all-rounder with a huge battery, the Moto G96 if you care most about the screen and main camera, the CMF Phone 2 Pro for clean software and a real zoom lens, the new Samsung Galaxy F70 for an AMOLED screen from a familiar brand, and the iQOO Z11 Lite if you want the cheapest big-battery 5G phone and can live with a low-resolution screen.

This is a research-based shortlist, not a hands-on test. Specifications come from launch reports and spec databases linked below, and the picks reflect our editorial judgement of the trade-offs for typical Indian buyers.

One thing has changed this year: phones cost more. Counterpoint Research found that smartphone prices in India rose about 16% on average in the first half of 2026 because of memory costs, with budget phones hit hardest (Digit, 29 Sep 2026). Launch prices and current selling prices often differ by a few thousand rupees, so treat every price below as a starting point and check the live price before you buy.

iQOO Z11x: best all-rounder

The iQOO Z11x launched in March 2026 at ₹18,999 for 6GB + 128GB, with 8GB versions at ₹20,999 and ₹22,999 (ETV Bharat).

Why consider it: it pairs a 4nm MediaTek Dimensity 7400 Turbo with a 7,200mAh battery and 44W charging, which is a rare mix of speed and stamina at this price. It also has a Full HD+ 120Hz screen, faster UFS 3.1 storage, a 32MP selfie camera, 4K video on both cameras and IP68/IP69 dust and water ratings. iQOO promises two Android upgrades and four years of security updates (Croma Unboxed).

Drawback: the display is LCD, not AMOLED, so blacks and outdoor contrast are weaker than on the Moto or Samsung. The second rear camera is only a 2MP depth sensor, so there is no ultra-wide.

Skip it if: you shoot a lot of group or landscape photos and want an ultra-wide lens, or you prefer AMOLED screens.

Moto G96: best screen and main camera

The Moto G96 launched in July 2025 at ₹17,999 for 8GB + 128GB and ₹19,999 for 8GB + 256GB (FoneArena).

Why consider it: it has a 6.67-inch curved 10-bit pOLED screen at up to 144Hz, a 50MP Sony LYT-700C main camera with OIS, an 8MP ultra-wide, a 32MP selfie camera, stereo speakers and an IP68 rating. The Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 is a capable mid-range chip, and the phone weighs about 178g, so it is easy to hold (GSMArena).

Drawback: it shipped with Android 15 and is promised only one major Android upgrade with three years of security updates, so it will stop getting new Android versions earlier than the others here. Its 5,500mAh battery is also smaller than the iQOO phones'.

Skip it if: you keep phones for four years or more, or battery life matters more to you than the screen.

CMF Phone 2 Pro: best clean software and zoom

Nothing's CMF Phone 2 Pro launched in India in 2025 and is still one of the few phones near this budget with a real telephoto camera.

Why consider it: the rear setup has a 50MP main camera, a 50MP 2x telephoto and an 8MP ultra-wide, with 4K video. The 6.77-inch flexible AMOLED is 120Hz and rated up to 3,000 nits peak. It runs Nothing OS with no heavy app clutter, and Nothing promises three years of Android updates and six years of security updates, the longest support on this list (91mobiles specs; Tom's Guide).

Drawback: there is no OIS on any camera, the dust and water rating is only IP54 (splash resistant), and the Dimensity 7300 Pro is a mid-range chip, not a gaming chip. Prices for this model vary a lot between listings this month, from around ₹18,000 to well above ₹20,000, so compare before you pay.

Skip it if: you want strong water resistance, or you play demanding games for long sessions.

Samsung Galaxy F70: best for Samsung fans

The Galaxy F70 is the newest phone here. Samsung launched it in mid-October 2026 at ₹19,999 for 4GB + 128GB and ₹22,999 for 6GB + 128GB, with launch offers bringing these to ₹17,999 and ₹20,999. It is sold on Flipkart and Samsung's own website (Beebom).

Why consider it: you get a 6.7-inch Full HD+ Super AMOLED screen with Gorilla Glass Victus, a 50MP main camera with OIS plus a 5MP ultra-wide, a 13MP selfie camera, microSD support up to 2TB and a slim 7.5mm body. If you already use Samsung phones and like One UI, it is the familiar choice.

Drawback: the screen runs at 90Hz rather than 120Hz, charging is 25W with no charger in the box, and the Exynos 1330 is the slowest chip among our main picks. The base model has only 4GB of RAM. Samsung had not published this model's update promise in the reports we checked.

Skip it if: you want the smoothest screen, fast charging or gaming performance for the money.

iQOO Z11 Lite: best on a tighter budget

The iQOO Z11 Lite launched in July 2026 at ₹19,499 for 4GB + 128GB (91mobiles). It is the one phone on this list that we track: on Flipkart, our own checks of the iQOO Z11 Lite (4GB + 128GB, Midnight Blue) ranged from ₹18,476 to ₹18,945 between 17 and 23 October 2026.

Why consider it: a 6,500mAh battery with 44W charging, a 120Hz screen, an IP65 rating, Android 16-based OriginOS 6 out of the box and microSD expansion. For calls, WhatsApp, UPI and video, that is enough phone for many buyers.

Drawback: the 6.74-inch screen is only HD+ (720 x 1600), the Dimensity 6300 is an entry-level chip, the selfie camera is 5MP, and 4GB of RAM will feel tight with many apps open.

Skip it if: you can stretch a little: the iQOO Z11x above is a clear step up in screen, speed and cameras.

How to choose between them

  • Battery first: iQOO Z11x, then iQOO Z11 Lite.
  • Screen and photos: Moto G96, or the CMF Phone 2 Pro if you want zoom.
  • Longest software support: CMF Phone 2 Pro (3 Android updates, 6 years of security patches).
  • Water resistance: iQOO Z11x and Moto G96 carry IP68 ratings; the CMF is IP54.

How to check the real price

Because prices have climbed this year, a "discount" against the MRP does not tell you much. Before you buy:

  1. Compare the exact variant: RAM and storage change the price by ₹2,000 to ₹4,000.
  2. Separate the unconditional price from bank, exchange and coupon offers. A launch offer that needs one bank's card is not a price cut for everyone.
  3. Look up the phone in our price tracker to see the prices we have recorded for that listing, and set an alert if you can wait.
